World Radiography Day- 2019 Celebrations

World Radiography Day is celebrated on 8th of November each year. The date marks the anniversary of the discovery of x-radiation by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1985. Radiographers worldwide can use the day and the days around the date to promote Radiography as a career, as a vital contribution to modern healthcare and as a chance to increase public awareness of Diagnostic imaging and Radiotherapy.

Department of Radiography/ Radiotherapy, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with the Society of Medical Radiation Sciences organised a workshop for students on “Radiological Sciences” commemorating World Radiography Day 2019 on 9th of December 2019.

Dr. Somaratne Disanayake, former Radiographer and Film Director, Mr. S. S. K. Kolambage, Deputy Director, Atomic Energy Regulatory Council, Ms. Ayomie Amarasinghe, Radiotherapist and the Alumnus of the Department and Ms. D. L. B. O. Abayarathna, Allication Specialist, Nextgen Healthcare (pvt.) Ltd. and the Alumnus of the Department were contributed as the resource persons for the workshop.
