Inauguration Programme – Diploma in Movement science and injury prevention in Sports
The first Diploma programme by the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences was ceremonially inaugurated on 15th October 2022.
The occasion was graced by the guest of honour Professor B.L.H Perera, Director of the academic programmes, National Olympic
committee in Sri Lanka and the Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the Head, Department of Physiotherapy, former Heads of
the Department of Physiotherapy and other academic and non-academic members of the faculty. The chief gust of the event,
General Daya Rathnayake – the former Army Commander of Sri Lankan army addressed the gathering via Zoom technology.
This diploma programme is conducted by the Department of Physiotherapy. The target population of the course is physical
education teachers, coaches, athletes and other professionals who are involved in training athletes. This one-year movement
science and injury prevention diploma, will provide in-depth knowledge about movement science and its impact on injury prevention
and, further gives insight into strength and endurance training.
There were around 70 participants who participated for the event and practical sessions for the participants were conducted at
the gymnasium of the University of Peradeniya.
