Nursing Pledge Ceremony of batch 2019/2020 – Department of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences

The traditional Nursing Pledge Ceremony organized by the Department of Nursing for its 15th batch of undergraduate students was held on 19th May 2023, at the Diamond Jubilee Hall of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya. The event was graced by the presence of, Professor Terrance Madujith the Deputy Vice Chancellor, and invited dignitaries from around the University of Peradeniya, clinical staff of Teaching Hospitals where the undergraduates receive their clinical training and the dearest parents. This year, the ceremony was organized, symbolizing undergraduate nursing students of the batch 2019/2020 completing their first academic year and stepping towards the advanced clinical training.

It was not forgotten to commemorate the Lady Florence Nightingale; the founder of modern organized nursing practice, thus the head of the department ignited the traditional Nightingale lamp and garlanded the gleaming Lady Florance Nightingale statue, along with the gratitude of all the participants at the event. Nursing undergraduates were offered nursing caps and customary three-wick lamps followed by vowing nursing oath to promise to abide by the ethical practices of a professional nurse, solemnly.

Department of Nursing wishes the very best and prosperous future endeavors for the undergraduate nursing students of the batch 2019/2020, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya.
