Community Health field visit for the Batch 2016/2017 undergraduate students


  • 2016 / 2017, Batch of nursing undergraduate students of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences successfully participated in a field visit on 14th January 2020 followed by a lecture series at Municipal Council – Kandy on 16th January 2020.
    They visited the Meewathura water treatment plant and Gohagoda dumpsite Kandy. The purpose of this visit was to create an experiential learning environment for students to gain insight to solid waste management system, sewage treatment and the water treatment process in order to apply this knowledge in Community Health Nursing. During the municipal council lecture series, they learned about the criteria and standards for healthy housing, effects of poor housing on health and sanitation of fairs, festivals and camps, which are currently practicing in Sri-Lanka.
