Recommencement of the Medical Imaging Center of University of Peradeniya - 2023

Recommencing ceremony of the Medical Imaging Center (MIC) of the University of Peradeniya was held on the 5th of January 2023 in the presence of Professor P. B. Hewavithana, Professor S. Rosairo and Dr. U. J. H. Udupihille from Faculty of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Professor R. D. Jayasinghe and Professor P. V. K. S. Hettiarachchi from Faculty of Dental Sciences, University of Peradeniya, Professor M. D. M. L. K. Yatawara, the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Heads of the Departments of Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Radiographers in charge of Teaching Hospital Peradeniya, National Hospital Kandy and Sirimavo Bandaranayaka Specialized Children’s Hospital, Assistant Registrar and Assistant Bursar of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and the academic and non-academic staff of the Department of Radiography/Radiotherapy and English Learning Teaching Unit, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya.

The ceremony started with lightening the traditional oil lamp followed by the addressing of the gathering. The invited guests were then introduced to the newly installed Computer Radiography (CR) system with a sample imaging.The MIC unit accommodates an X-ray unit and a Mammography machine along with an upgraded system of image processing: CR system which offers quick and optimum services to the public.
