Inauguration of the MSc in Nursing Programme



TThe Department of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya, inaugurated the Master of Science (MSc) in Nursing programme on 16th August 2025 at the the Faculty. The event was held with the participation of senior academics, invited dignitaries, and the newly admitted cohort of postgraduate students. The ceremony commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, symbolizing knowledge and the commencement of a new academic endeavor. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof Lalani Yatawara, who emphasized the significance of advancing nursing education and research within the country. Head of the Department, Dr Deepani Pathiranage addressed the gathering, underscoring the vital role of postgraduate training in enhancing professional expertise, leadership capacity, and scholarly contributions in the field of nursing. The inauguration marked an important milestone for the Department of Nursing in its continuous efforts to strengthen postgraduate education and research capacity. The MSc in Nursing programme is designed to cultivate advanced knowledge and skills in clinical practice, education, and research, thereby contributing to the improvement of healthcare services at national and global levels.The Department of Nursing extends its best wishes to the incoming batch of MSc Nursing students and looks forward to their academic and professional achievements in the years ahead.
