Geriatric Assessment Laboratory

A Geriatric Assessment Laboratory was established in the Department of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences University of Peradeniya. The Laboratory comprises space and equipment for the assessment and management of Geriatric population. Two equipment that are sensor based was installed in the laboratory and it was funded by the European Union through an ERASMUS+ Capacity building project titled, ‘Promoting academic and professional excellence in health care to meet the challenges of aging in Sri Lanka, CAPAGE’. This laboratory will be utilized for undergraduate and postgraduate training, research purposes and assessment and management of older adults. The lab was validated by members from UDC, Spain, Europe. The lab is open for function since 24th February 2025. This laboratory is one of its kind, because of being the only laboratory comprising sensor-based assessment systems for function, mobility and balance in Kandy District. The lab will be open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
