The Workshop on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person-Centered Care (PCC)


The workshop on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Person-Centered Care (PCC) were held at the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya on the 31st of October from 8.30 AM to 5.00 PM. ACT offers a psychological model well suited to the needs of patients with a disfiguring condition. PCC is widely recognized as a foundation to safe, high-quality health care. It is care that respects and responds to the preferences, needs, and values of individuals. Nearly 30 nurses and physiotherapists who work in the National Hospital, Kandy, Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya, Teaching Hospital, Gampola, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Specialized Children's Hospital, Peradeniya participated in the workshop. These were jointly organized by nEUROcare team Lanka (618596-EPP-1-2020-1-SE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) and the University of Peradeniya.

The resource persons of the workshop were Prof. Martin Persson and Ms. Emma Edberg Matei from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Kristianstad University, Sweden. Prof. MD. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, Prof. M.D.M.L.D.K. Yatawara, the Dean of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and, Prof. Ruwan Jayasinghe, the Acting Director of the University Research Council participated in the event as guests. Prof. Damayanthi Dassanayake, the manager of nEUROcare, University of Peradeniya coordinated the events.
