International Nursing Research Sessions (iPUNRSE) 2022,UOP


Peradeniya University International Nursing Research Sessions (iPUNRSE) 2022, organized by the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka was successfully held as a virtual event on the 16th and 17th of June 2022 in collaboration with Niigata University, Japan, The University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, United States. The Inaugural Ceremony, which was held on 17th June, was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya Prof MD Lamawansa, as the Chief Guest, Prof. Aisha Holloway, The University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, as the Guest of Honour. The event was attended by the Directors of the Postgraduate Institutes; the Deans of the nine Faculties of the University and the Chairperson and members of the Organizing Committee of iPUNRSE 2022.

The keynote addresses were delivered by Dr. Aya Saitoh, School of Health Sciences, Niigata University, Japan; Prof. Catherine Ling, Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, USA; Prof. Tonks Fawcett, The University of Edinburgh, UK; Prof. Wendy Moyle, Griffith University, Australia; Prof. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prison, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. The conference provided a venue for nursing and healthcare researchers to communicate with each other while addressing national and global healthcare- challenges giving particular attention to the field of nursing science. The conference consisted of 23 abstract presentations covering four thematic areas under the conference theme ‘Discovering the paradigms beyond caring hands’. The technical sessions were held as two parallel sessions.

Concurrent to the iPUNRSE 2022, two pre-congress workshops were held on 16th June 2022. The closing ceremony, which was held on the 17th, was marked with the announcement of the three best presenters of iPUNRSE 2022.
