
The Department of Physiotherapy operates under the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, which was inaugurated on 16th January 2007. The Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme is designed to produce proficient graduates in the field of physiotherapy to cater the growing demands and to advance the quality of physiotherapy services in Sri Lanka. The programme provides students with a high standard of clinical skills and knowledge across neurological, musculoskeletal, pediatric, cardio-respiratory, and sports physiotherapy, meeting both local and international criteria.
Our newest facility, equipped with sensor-based assessment tools funded through the ERASMUS+ CAPAGE project, for evaluating mobility and fall risk in older adults.
A clinical service unit offering physiotherapy treatment to patients, while giving students hands-on experience under professional supervision.
A dedicated diagnostic unit for respiratory assessment, supporting both clinical services and cardio-respiratory physiotherapy training.
Equipped for research and training in exercise physiology, movement analysis and sports physiotherapy.
A fully-equipped clinical training space for musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation practice.

A Geriatric Assessment Laboratory was established in the Department of Physiotherapy. Two sensor-based equipment were installed, funded by the European Union through an ERASMUS+ Capacity Building project, CAPAGE.

The Department organized the 04th Peradeniya University Physiotherapy Congress – 2022. Theme: “Global Trends and Advancements in Physiotherapy in the Modern Era”.

The first Diploma programme was ceremonially inaugurated on 15th October 2022. Chief guest General Daya Rathnayake addressed the gathering via Zoom.

The Students' Society of Physiotherapy organized a screening programme for University of Peradeniya athletes to mark World Physiotherapy Day.

The M.Sc. PT programme aims to prepare physiotherapists with advanced knowledge, skills and professional practice on par with global standards.
