KOICA Public Private Cooperation Field Research Contest planning to establish a Women’s Health Centre in Central Sri Lanka in collaboration with Department of Nursing


  • As announced by the President Hee-Jin Kim, Choonhae Health University, Ulsan City, South Korea on 10th September 2020, the proposed project to build a platform for women’s health centers with the aim of improving maternal and child health in central Sri Lanka, was successfully selected for the Public Private Partnership Incubation Field Survey contest supported by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

    The Choonhae College of Health Sciences and the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University of Peradeniya were interconnected through an MoU executed on 18th January 2019 during the visit of four professors from Choonhae College of Health Sciences to University of Peradeniya. Henceforth, two institutes have been discussing to plan projects for research collaborations, academic partnerships and especially the activities to improve the health of selected underprivileged populations of Sri Lanka. This specific project was planned through the discussions led by Dr. Rasika Illeperuma, the Coordinator of the Choonhae College and Peradeniya University academic collaborations, Dr Malshani Pathirathne, The Head of the Department of Nursing and several academic experts from the Choonhae College of Health Sciences.

    According to the KOICA, the proposed project will receive 12 Million Won during the first step to cover the local area research expenses, therefore expectantly the project will be supportive for uplifting the quality of life of women and children in Central Sri Lanka, in the future.
