World Physiotherapy Day Programme 2018 09th September, 2018
The Department of Physiotherapy – Faculty of Allied Health Sciences in collaboration with the Department of physiotherapy – Kandy Teaching Hospital, celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 9th September 2018 at the Kandy Teaching Hospital. World physical therapy day is on 8th September every year. This day is a great opportunity to all the physiotherapists around the globe to enhance awareness regarding their crucial role in prevention, maintenance and treatments of injuries. Many physical therapy programmes were conducted to celebrate world physical therapy day all over the world
The theme of the programme was “Exercise for Health, Walk for Life”. Chief Guest of the occasion was Director of the Kandy Teaching Hospital. Chief Physiotherapist –Kandy Teaching hospital, Head- Department of Physiotherapy –Faculty of Allied Health-University of Peradeniya graced the occasion.
There were series of events to enhance awareness about importance of exercise and walk for healthy life. The poragramme was initiated with all the participants participating in a warm-up session followed by a walk. There was a sports injury screening programme for the athletes from Schools in Kandy district.
The academic staff and students of the Department of Physiotherapy-FAHS educated school athletes about sports injuries and their prevention methods as well as new advancements such as video motion analysis of sports activities .
