World Radiography Day 2013

  • The Department of Radiography/Radiotherapy has celebrated the World Radiography Day at the Faculty premises on 8th November 2013 to commemorate the World Radiography Day which marks the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays on 8th November, 1895. It is an annual international initiative intended to raise the awareness of the profession of Radiography, and to stimulate the interest. More than 100 participants including academic staff, non academic staff and students attended for this event .

  • There were two sessions: inaugural session and plenary session. Dr. M. Mudalige (Acting Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences), Prof. Hinaro (Niigata University, Japan), Mrs. T.M.S. Tennakoon (Chief Radiographer, Teaching Hospital, Kandy), Mr. T. A. Koggalahewa (Radiographer, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC, Colombo) graced the inaugural session of the event.

  • Dr. R.D. Jayasinghe (Head, Department of Oral medicine & Periodontology, Mr. Prabath Gunathilake (Department of Statistics & Computer Science, Faculty of Science), Faculty of Dental Sciences) and Dr. W. R. Bandula Kumara (Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science) contributed as resource persons at the plenary session. Certificates were issued to the winners of the quiz competition and poster competition which was conducted as parallel events to the World Radiography Day. Mr. H.P. Wijerathna (former Temporary Tutor) was honored for his valuable service at the Department.
