A lecturer of Physiotherapy department has done a commendable service for Sri Lankan paralympic athletic team at IPC World Athletic Championships


  • Mr. Dulan Tharanga Kodikara, who is working as a Lecturer in the Department of Physiotherapy, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Sri Lanka, has brought great glory to University of Peradeniya. He has travelled with the Sri Lankan Paralympic Athletic team to France for the IPC World Athletic Championships as the team Sports Physiotherapist. This global event was held from 19th to 28th July 2013 in Lyon France in which Sri Lankan disabled athlete Pradeep Sanjaya managed to win the first ever medal in the history of this competition by winning the bronze medal in T 46 category 400 meters. Sri Lankan contingent consisted of eight (08) athletes out of which seven of them have achieved personal best performances in their respective events. The team management and the National Paralympic Committee have commended Mr. Kodikara's valuable presence and services. Mr. Kodikara in fact is the first Sri Lankan physiotherapist to obtain a masters degree in Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy from the prestigious University of South Australia. The Faculty of AHS is privileged to have his services and wish him success in all his future endeavors.
